Manal Al-sharif, the Saudi woman who got arrested for driving and posting about it on youtube in 2011, might finally get what she wished for. The advisory council to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has recommended the country’s government lift the long-standing ban on women drivers. But under certain conditions. The woman driving has to be over 30 years old, wearing no makeup and she can't drive after 8 pm. I personally personally feel that those conditions won't last for long, and soon women of all ages will be driving around the streets of Saudi Arabia. I feel these conditions are just a transitional period of time to help the saudi society, especially men who were against women driving, accept and welcome women drivers on the road.
This is Manal's Talk on Ted about her story.
